Alex Barthel is a glass artist, or ‘glasshopper, maker and breaker’. He specialises in kiln-formed moulded, fused and slumped glass pieces. He is fascinated by the interplay between light and colour in glasswork, and draws on a variety of materials including art glass, recycled pieces of windows, windscreens, marbles, bottles, fish bones, and whatever else he can lay his hands on.
