Nicole Robins’ basketry is materials based. She uses traditional techniques from basketry while embracing Sydney’s diverse plant life. She is interested in documenting the plant world we live in and less in functional basketry pieces. She likes to use whole, recognisable fibres whenever she can, juxtaposing indigenous plants, exotics and, yes, even ‘weeds’.
