Ceramic Vase One of A Kind Royal Blue
Alterfact’s practice is currently focused on the use of 3D printing in clay as a small batch manufacturing process.
One of A Kind was the first batch produced 3D printed vase from Alterfact. Printed in Southern Ice Porcelain, the vase features an irregular pattern near the top of the vase, which is different for each piece.
Dimensions: 8cm x 9cm x 14cm
Materials: White porcelain with blue stain.
Alterfact is an experimental design studio created by Lucile Sciallano and Ben Landau in 2014. Since graduating from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2013, Lucile and Ben have worked in tandem on various issues in different mediums.
They explore current and future issues and translate them into experiences, installations and objects. They conduct critical research with materials and data, and invite the viewer into their world. Within Alterfact, Ben is more academic and research based, whereas Lucile conducts material research and translates concepts to objects.
Their background is in design, and they have a critical approach to making. This means that they consider the manufacture of ‘stuff’: where it comes from and where it goes; how it is made and how it will be used. They are interested in 3D printing as a small batch manufacturing process, especially as it moves past a gimmick and into a feasible reality.
