Lucy Simpson is a Yuwaalaraay woman (northwest New South Wales) currently living in Sydney.
She is the founder of design studio Gaawaa Miyay (river daughter) Designs. Through her contemporary work in design, Lucy uses visual narratives to connect, share and celebrate aspects of language story, country and contemporary Aboriginal culture. The work Lucy creates brings to life Yuwaalaraay country and perspective, and is infused with the philosophies of Aboriginal design, personal experience and old story.
Made from quality recycled leather, this A5 size Australian made journal features an inner pocket with two slits for business cards, refillable A5 notepad, a pen loop and elastic closure.
The recycled leather is made from combining 60% genuine leather fibres from the European shoe and handbag industry, 20% natural latex, 10% natural fat, 10% misc/raw material with tanning agents and water. The refillable pad is made from 100% de-inked recycled post-consumer waste collected from offices throughout Australia, it is carbon neutral and made in the Maryvale Mill, in Victoria. Corban & Blair was born out of an idea to work creatively, designing and manufacturing a range of engaging, innovative and continually evolving marketing, presentation and gift products.
Co-founders and cousins Gillian and Amanda, opened a niche in Australian designer paper products in 1988. As the market changed, they too evolved to match market needs, creating new product styles in an array of materials manufactured in Australia, New Zealand and China.
They carefully select materials and techniques, and collaborate with other artists such as Indigenous designer Lucy Simpson (Gaawaa Miyay Designs) to produce products that delight.
