About OUT OF DATE
Artist and jeweller Zoe Brand presents a selection of works from the past decade. Using archetypal jewellery forms, ready-made objects and text Zoe explores the act of wearing jewellery as both a performance and method of communication, taking a wry and humorous approach to what it means to be ‘out of date’. While the works are not only literally out of date, they were also made in response to ideas and moments once considered relevant.
In this exhibition Zoe’s materials include European parquetry, fake marble paint, modified shop fittings, gold and a glass tabletop found at the tip shop.
About Zoe Brand
Zoe lives in a small village called Majors Creek, about an hour and a half outside of Australia’s capital city, Canberra. Zoe’s jewellery making is concerned with finding language that can describe both the object or the idea of the object, as well as the person who might wear the piece.
