Materials: Midfire clay, slip, glaze, copper wash, silver lustre, silky oak turned timber handle, wire, fired to cone 6 in oxidation

Wheel-made and are altered with the addition of slab constructed details, Lucy’s approach presents an opportunity to manipulate the thrown elements. Fired in a reduced atmosphere with additions of stone and iron for varied surfaces, materials such as kanthal wire and turned wooden handles, present a duality of traditional and contemporary. Her pieces reflect the beauty and awkward imperfections of being human. Relying on form and colour to create a sense of whimsical nostalgia, her work has a timelessness that reflects the enriching role of ceramics in our lives.
